When playing on Heroic or Legendary, you have to know which Halo 3 weapons are suitable for specific enemies or specific situations. It so different on Normal, where any weapon you can get hold off is good enough. After playing on Legendary for a while and then switching back to play on Normal or Easy, you will suddenly realize that you are very good when the enemies start dropping with every shot, irrespective of the Halo 3 weapons you are using.
The Battle Rifle is one weapon, which you should have at all times. With its 2x zoom scope, you can use headshots to take out Grunts, Jackals, Brutes and Chieftains. It is thrilling when you successfully knock out the enemies one-by-one with the Battle Rifle. However, on Legendary it is slightly less effective for Brutes and Chieftains.
If you come across a Sniper Rifle, take it, as it is the ultimate sniping weapon. It has a 5x and 10x zoom scope. On Legendary, you can use it to kill Brutes and Chieftains with one headshot. The range of the Sniper Rifle is greater than the Battle Rifle. However, conserve ammo by not using it against the Grunts. Use the Battle Rifle instead for the lowly Grunts.
The Energy Sword and the Gravity Hammer are effective against all forms of Flood on all difficulty levels. The exception is that the Energy Sword is not so effective against the Infection Flood form.
Among the Halo 3 Weapons, the most powerful weapon for destroying Wraiths and Shade Turrets is the Spartan Laser. After pressing the trigger to power it up, it will fire once the gauge reaches the firing point. Release the trigger at any time to cancel the firing process. However, there are only 5 shots available per Spartan Laser, and no extra ammunition is available.
